We created bioglyphs in class on today. A bioglyph is a symbolic representation of personal traits and interests that are important in each person’s life. We are doing this activity to both build a classroom community and to gain a mathematical and scientific understanding of how symbols can be used to represent concrete concepts. Below is a copy of the homework page that went home today. Bioglyphs are due on Monday. This is family homework so it should give you time to complete the work.

This week we will spend time learning about class routines and building a strong learning culture. There will be a variety of lessons including group activities that focus on working and supporting each other, lessons that help you learn how you learn and lessons that focus on helping you build independent learning skills. This should be fun and help us get the school year off to a good start. A few reminders for the start of the year: · Bring a water bottle. It could be a very hot day. · Dress for the weather. · Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. at the Belle Plaine Entrance. Homework this week will be light as we ease back into the school routine. For reading work you should be reading 20 minutes each night. We will be using picture books this week in class so the nightly assignments will be your choice. Attached below is the questionnaire I would appreciate your completing it and sending it in with your child.
