PaWe will have a test on fractions this Monday. Students may use the large note card given in class for the test. They will need to take their notebook home so that they can create the card. The creation of the note card will help them track what will be on the test. These are the items that you might want to put on the note card:

Here is the after school program information.
We have begun our Engineering Design Unit. Students are working on an Engineering Design Poster that is due next Wednesday. This poster will lay the groundwork for our design project where students will use the process to create a motorized toy. For the next two weeks will will continue to explore aspects of the engineering design process as it is use in different engineering disciplines. After that students will begin designing their motorized toy. While we will do the initial work in class, we will have a maker day. I will be looking for parent volunteers to come in and assist students with their toy building. I will need parents to supervise stations for hot gluing, cutting foam core, painting and general problem solving. This will be on a Wednesday, since that is the day that we have larger blocks of time. Please think about volunteering for this event. Details will follow.
We have been working on Fraction Projects as part of our study of fractions. There are two different projects. The entire Pizza Project is due Monday. You may want to look over the project tonight, so if your child has any questions about the project they can have them answered tomorrow. I have attached a copy of the pizza project. Make sure you do both parts one and two. Student working on the Bakery Project will have six pages due on Monday.
We are continuing to work on Fractions in math class. There are three parts to our fraction study. First, students are working through fraction lessons independently and in small groups. Second, Students are working on a fraction project. Finally, students are using Khan Academy to review skills. We will be resuming our weekly math quizzes this Friday.
