We are learning how to divide using partial quotients. This is an important step as it connects place value and key division concepts to long division.

The homework has a visual way of setting up the problem. Each step is shown inside of a square or rectangle. This shows that you have to multiply the numbers on the outside. The divisor is always on the vertical side. The quotients are always on the horizontal side. On the inside you have your dividend and subtract the product of the divisor and the compatible number chosen. The visual in the box incorporates what we learned in partial products (height X width = are). Below is an example.
