- Basic fact patterns
- 36 ÷ 6 = 6
- 360 ÷ 6 = 60
- 3600 ÷ 6 = 600
- Estimating quotients using compatible numbers, so if we want to estimate 652 ÷ 8 = ? , I can estimate because I know that 640 ÷ 8 = 80, so I know my answer is around 80. (This is why it is so important to know your math facts it makes this easy to do.)
- Looking at remainders and knowing what they mean. For example if Sally is putting pictures into a book and has 27 pictures and puts six on each page.
- 27 ÷ 6 = 4 R3
- This means Sally need 5 pages in her book, and the last page will only have 3 pictures.
- Long Division
- Multi-step word problems with division.
We are working on the division unit. This Friday's quiz will be a review of each operation, multi digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The unit test will be Thursday the 21st. This test will include:
