There is a practice sheet this weekend to reinforce what we covered in class today. For this sheet (and our students should know this too) when a digit is underlined, that is the digit that we need to round to. The underlined digit is the digit that is either going to be rounded up or remain the same. The digit to the immediate right of the underlined digit will determine if the underlined digit changes or not.
We are working on understanding why zeros follow the rounded (underlined) digit as well as on understanding that you keep any value that comes before the rounded digit. We worked with number lines to deepen our understanding of rounding today. Number lines can be a great help while working on the problems.
All of the problems on the practice sheet are problems we have worked on in class. Nothing is new.
Here is a supplemental video that is also beneficial for both parents as students! It does a nice job of working through a rounding problem.
